Fringe Magic and Moonlight Blockbusters: What’s On in Perth Today

A City Alive with Performance
Perth is currently in the heart of its most vibrant season, with the 2026 FRINGE WORLD Festival taking over the city. Today, Thursday, 5 February, offers an incredible selection of world-class entertainment, outdoor cinema experiences, and late-night markets that showcase the best of Western Australia’s summer culture.
Fringe World Festival Highlights
The Fringe program is in full swing across Northbridge and the CBD. Tonight, visitors can catch the internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir at The Rechabite, delivering their powerful, Grammy-winning harmonies. For those seeking something more provocative, The Ladyboys of Bangkok continue their residency at The Pleasure Garden, offering a high-energy cabaret that has become a festival staple.
- Why I Stuck a Flare up my Arse for England: A gripping theatrical performance at the State Theatre Centre of WA (Rehearsal Room 1) starting at 6:20 PM.
- MARVELous: A Risque Parody: A hilarious and cheeky take on superhero culture at the Ice Cream Factory (ICF: Outdoors) in Northbridge.
- Jez Watts: As Seen Nowhere: Local comedy at its finest, hosted at Terrarium Perth.
Cinema Under the Stars
With clear skies forecast, tonight is the perfect evening for outdoor cinema. Two major open-air venues are hosting classic and new-release screenings:
- Rooftop Movies: Head to Roe Street in Northbridge for a "Thrifty Thursday" screening of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Tickets for beanbag seating are discounted to $15, making it an affordable way to enjoy the city skyline views.
- Moonlight Cinema: Located at May Drive Parkland in Kings Park, tonight’s feature is the original Jurassic Park. As part of "The People's Program," this audience favorite is best enjoyed with a picnic rug and a hamper.
Markets and Exhibitions
If you prefer a stroll through the city, the Twilight Food Market at Forrest Place is running tonight from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM. This special festival-season edition of the market brings global street food to the heart of the CBD, accompanied by live local music.
For art enthusiasts, the evening marks the opening of Tessa MacKay: Social Realism at Lawson Flats. The Fremantle-based artist’s latest exhibition features striking new works that explore modern social themes. Additionally, the WA Museum Boola Bardip continues its Biomass exhibition, which is open to the public throughout the day.
Evening Comedy
Rounding out the night, international comedy sensation Matt Rife performs his "Stay Golden World Tour" at Perth HPC in Mount Claremont. While some sessions are near capacity, it remains one of the hottest tickets in town this Thursday evening.
