- Ongoing CBD Closures: Residents are reminded that Newcastle Street remains closed between William and Beaufort Streets until Monday, 9 February. Telethon Avenue remains restricted through May 2026 to facilitate long-term asset installation.
- Supreme Court Gardens: Construction is officially underway on the new Lotterywest Community Stage. While the gardens remain accessible, certain areas are fenced off as part of an upgrade project scheduled through October 2026.
Public Health and Safety Advisories
WA Health has issued several advisories relevant to the current summer conditions and recent diagnostic trends in the metropolitan area.
- Meningococcal Disease Update: Following a recent update on 3 February, health officials urge the community to remain vigilant for symptoms including high fever, chills, headache, and neck stiffness. Early medical intervention is critical.
- Seasonal Amoebic Meningitis Warning: With consistent warm weather, the risk of amoebic meningitis in untreated fresh water remains high. Residents are advised to avoid jumping or diving into warm, stagnant water and to ensure garden hoses are flushed before use.
- Community Safety: Following the Lord Mayor’s statement on 5 February regarding recent incidents in Forrest Place, the City maintains a high-visibility security presence. The City condemns all acts of public intimidation and reminds residents to report any suspicious activity to the WA Police.
