Central Perth Road Closures and Infrastructure Works

The City of Perth has authorized several road closures and infrastructure projects active this Friday, 20 March 2026. Commuters and residents are advised to plan their routes accordingly as several major thoroughfares remain impacted by ongoing maintenance and construction efforts designed to upgrade city utilities and safety standards.

  • Queen Street, Perth: A full closure of Queen Street remains in effect from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. This closure, which began earlier this week and is scheduled to continue until 27 March, facilitates the installation of temporary crossovers and hoarding structures by contractors. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detours.
  • Walker Avenue, West Perth & Brown Street, East Perth: Both locations have been undergoing essential infrastructure works since 16 March. These specific projects are scheduled for completion at the end of the business day today, 20 March.
  • Crawley "Cool Roads" Program: As part of the 2025/26 Cool Roads Program, various streets in the Crawley area will experience daily closures between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm through to 21 March. These works involve specialized surfacing aimed at reducing urban heat and improving road durability.
  • East Perth Access: Road closures affecting multiple streets in East Perth remain active through 23 March to accommodate significant infrastructure upgrades.

City of Stirling Shopping Trolley Law Commences

Effective today, Friday, 20 March 2026, the City of Stirling’s new Shopping Trolleys Local Law 2026 officially comes into force. This legislation, adopted by the Council in late February, was designed to address the growing issue of abandoned trolleys in public spaces and waterways. Under the new regulations, retailers within the City of Stirling are required to implement more rigorous collection and return protocols. The City now possesses enhanced powers to impound trolleys found on public land, with the cost of impounding and storage potentially being recovered from the retailers. Residents are encouraged to report abandoned trolleys to help maintain community safety and aesthetic standards.

South Perth Maintenance and Footpath Schedule

  • Anstey Street: Following the installation of the new pedestrian zebra crossing at the intersection of Anstey and Angelo Streets, final safety inspections and line marking assessments are being conducted.
