Official Fuel Price Advisory: Major Hike Expected

FuelWatch has issued a formal alert for motorists in the Perth metropolitan area and Mandurah regarding a significant increase in petrol prices effective from 6:00 AM on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. The average price of regular unleaded petrol (ULP) is set to rise by 7 cents per litre, reaching an average of 227.4 cents per litre (cpl).

While major retailers including BP and 7-Eleven are expected to hike prices up to 239.9 cpl, several independent sites continue to offer competitive rates. Residents are encouraged to fill their tanks before the Wednesday morning deadline. The cheapest ULP options available for Wednesday include:

  • East: 205.0 cpl at Shell Bullsbrook
  • South: 191.3 cpl at Liberty Beckenham
  • North: 203.3 cpl at Burk Landsdale

Public Infrastructure and Road Closures

The City of Perth and the City of South Perth have authorized several temporary road closures to facilitate essential maintenance and private construction works scheduled for Wednesday, 8 April 2026. Motorists should plan for potential delays in the following areas:

  • Walker Avenue, West Perth: A full road closure will commence on 8 April and is expected to remain in effect until 11 April 2026 for infrastructure works.
  • Davilak Street, Como: A half-road closure will be in place at 3A Davilak Street (west of Robert Street) on 8 April from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM to facilitate a concrete pour for ongoing construction.
  • Riverside Drive, East Perth: While major works are scheduled for later in the week, preliminary lane closures and monitoring for median island and footpath works by PaveWA remain active.

Public Safety: Information Sought for Northbridge Incident

Perth Detectives have renewed their appeal for public assistance regarding a serious incident that occurred on Roe Street in Northbridge on Sunday, 5 April 2026. An investigation is ongoing after a man in his 20s was assaulted and left unconscious. While a 23-year-old man has been charged and is due to appear in court later this week, police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area at approximately 1:10 AM on Sunday to contact Crime Stoppers.
