Public Service Announcement: Return to Regular Operations

Following the conclusion of the Easter long weekend, official services across the Perth metropolitan area will resume standard operating hours on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Residents are advised that while most municipal offices and community facilities return to their regular schedules, several public works projects and health advisories remain active throughout the city. The City Council and state authorities urge the public to remain informed of local disruptions and health guidelines as the working week commences.

WA Health Advisory: Active Measles Alert

WA Health has issued a high-priority advisory to the Perth community regarding an active measles alert. As of early April 2026, there have been five confirmed cases of measles identified within Western Australia this year. Health officials are calling for increased vigilance, particularly among residents who have recently visited public spaces or returned from overseas travel. Symptoms to monitor include fever, tiredness, a runny nose, cough, and sore red eyes, followed by a characteristic red blotchy rash. Because measles is highly infectious and can remain in the air for up to 30 minutes after an infected person has left an area, the Director of Communicable Disease Control has urged anyone showing symptoms to seek medical advice via telephone before visiting a GP or emergency department to prevent further transmission.

City of Perth: CBD Infrastructure and Obstruction Permits

The City of Perth has confirmed several major infrastructure works that will affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the CBD on Tuesday, 7 April. Notable disruptions include:

  • Wolf Lane (Perth): Ongoing light installation works are scheduled to continue. This project involves a full road closure and partial footpath obstructions. Pedestrian diversions are in place, and motorists should avoid the area during work hours.
  • Pier Street (Perth): Facade maintenance works remain active between Wellington and Murray Streets. This project requires a traffic lane closure and partial footpath obstruction to ensure public safety during the use of elevated work platforms.
  • General CBD Maintenance: Routine infrastructure inspections and minor repairs are scheduled for the week commencing 6 April, which may lead to intermittent lane restrictions across the city center.

City of South Perth: Approved Construction and Road Works

In the City of South Perth, several construction and demolition projects are authorized to begin or resume on Tuesday, 7 April. Residents in the following areas should expect increased truck movements and noise between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM:

  • Davilak Street (Como): General construction operations will be active, resulting in localized traffic delays.
  • Harper Terrace (South Perth): Demolition activities will facilitate truck access along Harper Terrace and the South Perth Esplanade.
  • Mill Point Road (South Perth): Significant truck movements are expected as part of ongoing development at the Lumiere site.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their commutes accordingly and adhere to all posted signage and speed reductions in these work zones.
