Official Infrastructure and Road Closure Notice

The City of Perth has issued several traffic and access alerts effective for Monday, 30 March 2026. Residents and commuters should plan for the following disruptions to the metropolitan road network:

  • Hale Street (East Perth): A full road closure is in effect between Waterloo Crescent and Nelson Crescent starting today, 30 March, and continuing through Sunday, 5 April. This closure is required to facilitate major construction works for the new inner-city primary school.
  • Telethon Avenue (Perth CBD): Ongoing 24/7 closures remain in place between Milligan Street and Wellington Street. These works are part of critical asset installations and are expected to continue until mid-May 2026.
  • Sutherland Street (West Perth): Nightly closures of the southbound lanes between Roe Street and Market Street continue from 19:30 to 05:00. These works involve essential anti-corrosion treatments to the rail bridge infrastructure.
  • Roe Street (Northbridge): Final stages of road works between William Street and Lake Street are scheduled for completion by tomorrow, 31 March. Expect intermittent lane closures throughout the day.

Public Health Advisories

WA Health has maintained several active health alerts for the final week of March. The community is urged to follow the official guidance below:

  • Measles Alert: An active alert remains for the WA community following five confirmed cases year-to-date. Residents who have visited high-traffic public areas in the CBD are advised to monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, and a red blotchy rash. Vaccination remains the most effective protection.
  • Mosquito-borne Virus Warning: Following the detection of Murray Valley encephalitis (MVE) and Japanese encephalitis (JE) in the northern regions, Perth residents planning travel to the Pilbara or Kimberley over the coming weeks are urged to take strict precautions against mosquito bites.
  • 2026 Influenza Update: Healthcare providers are reminded that RSVPs for the annual WA Health Influenza Update are due by close of business tomorrow, 31 March. The briefing will take place at the Department of Health Theatrette in East Perth on 1 April.

Council and Community Services

The City of Perth Council will hold an Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, at 5:00 PM at Council House. Public questions must be submitted in advance via the official City portal. Additionally, remediation works continue on the Lower Ground Floor of Council House to address structural and water ingress issues; however, public service counters remain open during standard business hours.

Emergency Recovery and Weather

Following the passage of the weakening weather system associated with recent tropical activity, recovery efforts are underway in the mid-west. Perth metropolitan residents should continue to monitor emergency services for updates regarding localized road debris or minor drainage maintenance following the recent rainfall events.
