City of Perth Audit and Risk Committee Meeting

The City of Perth has scheduled an Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee Meeting for Wednesday, 18 March 2026. The session is set to commence at 4:00 PM at Council House, located at 27 St Georges Terrace. These committee meetings are a vital part of the City’s governance framework, focusing on financial reporting, internal control systems, and risk management strategies. While the meeting is open to the public, certain items may be discussed behind closed doors if they involve confidential commercial information or legal matters. Community members interested in the transparency of local government operations are encouraged to attend or review the agenda via the official City portal.

Active Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions

Motorists and residents should prepare for several road closures and traffic obstructions across the metropolitan area effective this Wednesday. The City’s Activity Approvals team has authorized the following major disruptions:

  • West Perth: Walker Avenue will remain under a full road closure until Friday, 20 March, to accommodate essential infrastructure works. Local detours are in place.
  • East Perth: Brown Street is currently closed for construction through 20 March. Additionally, various roads in the East Perth precinct are experiencing intermittent disruptions due to major infrastructure projects scheduled to continue until 23 March.
  • Crawley: Road closures are active on several streets in the Crawley area through 21 March. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time during peak periods.
  • Long-term Impact: Telethon Avenue remains closed for ongoing development projects, with restrictions expected to continue until August 2026.

WA Health: Active Measles Alert

WA Health has issued a public health advisory following the identification of multiple measles cases in Western Australia since the beginning of the year. Health officials are urging the community to remain vigilant for symptoms, which typically include fever, tiredness, a runny nose, and a cough, followed by a red blotchy rash. Measles is highly infectious and can be spread through airborne droplets; the virus can remain active in the air for up to 30 minutes after an infected person has left a room. Residents who have visited exposure sites or exhibit symptoms should contact their GP in advance to ensure they can be isolated upon arrival at the clinic.

FuelWatch Consumer Advisory

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, through FuelWatch, has issued an alert regarding a significant hike in petrol prices. From 6:00 AM on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the average price of regular unleaded petrol in the Perth metropolitan area will increase by 11 cents per litre, reaching an average of 239.9 cents per litre. Motorists are advised that there remains a significant price gap of up to 66 cents per litre between the cheapest and most expensive sites. Commuters are encouraged to fill their tanks early on Wednesday morning at high-discount locations to minimize the impact of the wholesale-driven price surge.
