Official City Notices and Public Service Announcements

The following official notices, road closures, and health advisories are active for the City of Perth and surrounding metropolitan areas on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates to ensure minimal disruption to daily schedules and to maintain public safety.

Infrastructure and Road Closures

Significant infrastructure works continue throughout the CBD and Northbridge as part of the City’s 2025/26 capital works program. The following traffic management measures are currently in effect:

  • Telethon Avenue, Perth: A full road closure remains in place on Telethon Avenue. This closure is part of long-term development works and is scheduled to remain active until August 2026. Local detours are signposted.
  • Major Infrastructure Works (Week Commencing March 2): The City of Perth has issued obstruction permits for various major infrastructure projects across the city grid. Motorists should expect lane closures and intermittent disruptions between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on St Georges Terrace and Hay Street.
  • Supreme Court Gardens Upgrade: Essential remediation and construction of the new Lotterywest Community Stage are ongoing. While the gardens remain partially accessible, certain zones are fenced off for public safety during this major event-space upgrade.

Public Health Advisories

WA Health has maintained several active health alerts for the metropolitan region that remain relevant for early March:

  • Measles Alert: Following a confirmed case in a returned traveller in late January, health authorities continue to urge residents to monitor for symptoms. While the immediate exposure window for specific sites has passed, the 18-day incubation monitoring period remains active for the community. Symptoms include fever, cough, and a distinctive red rash.
  • Amoebic Meningitis Warning: Due to sustained warm temperatures throughout February and into early March, the Department of Health reminds residents to avoid jumping or diving into warm, unchlorinated fresh water, which increases the risk of Naegleria fowleri.
  • Meningococcal Disease Update: Following a reported case in February, public health officials remind the community that any person experiencing high fever, headache, neck stiffness, or a petechial rash should seek immediate medical attention.

Council and Community Information

The City of Perth Council continues its schedule of committee meetings and public consultations:

  • Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee: Public notice has been given for the upcoming committee meeting scheduled for Monday, 9 March 2026, at 4:00 PM. The agenda is currently available for public viewing at Council House.
  • Capital Works Tenders: Active tenders include the construction of the Mardalup Park public toilet (Tender No. RFT000277) and the lift replacement program for the Pier Street and Roe Street car parks (RFT000275). Submissions remain open for qualified contractors.
  • South Perth Weekly Works: In the neighbouring City of South Perth, approved weekly works for the period of 2 to 8 March 2026 include footpath upgrades and drainage maintenance.
