Official City Notice: Road Closures and Infrastructure Works

The City of Perth has approved several significant road closures beginning Monday, 16 March 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. Motorists are advised to plan their commutes in advance and expect delays in the affected areas.

  • West Perth: Walker Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Monday, 16 March through to Friday, 20 March 2026. Local access will be maintained where safe, but through-traffic is encouraged to seek alternative routes.
  • Perth CBD: Wolf Lane will undergo a full closure on Monday, 16 March and Tuesday, 17 March 2026 for scheduled works. Pedestrian access may be restricted during specific periods of high activity.
  • East Perth Cool Roads Program: As part of the 2025/26 Cool Roads Program, various streets in East Perth will be closed daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM starting Monday, 16 March. These works, aimed at reducing urban heat, are scheduled to continue until 23 March 2026. Additionally, Brown Street in East Perth will be closed from 16 to 20 March for separate infrastructure improvements.
  • Telethon Avenue: Residents are reminded that the ongoing closure of Telethon Avenue remains in effect as part of long-term redevelopment projects, with the site expected to remain restricted until August 2026.

WA Health Advisory: Active Measles Alert

WA Health has issued a reminder regarding an active measles alert following the identification of multiple cases within the Western Australian community earlier this month. Public health officials urge residents to remain vigilant for symptoms, which typically include fever, cough, runny nose, and sore red eyes, followed by a blotchy rash.

Individuals who are not fully vaccinated or were born after 1966 are encouraged to review their immunization status. Health professionals have been advised to maintain a high index of suspicion for patients presenting with febrile illness and a rash. If symptoms develop, patients should call ahead to their GP or emergency department to ensure they can be isolated upon arrival, preventing further transmission.

Public Service Announcements

The Department of Health has officially launched the 'Access Health WA' campaign to assist residents in navigating the healthcare system as the region prepares for the 2026 winter season. This initiative provides a centralized platform for information on urgent care clinics, pharmacies, and the WA Virtual Emergency Department to reduce pressure on traditional emergency rooms.

Furthermore, the City of Perth is currently advertising several major tenders, including the installation of a Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic and Battery Storage System on Goderich Street and the construction of new public facilities at Mardalup Park. These projects reflect the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainable energy and improved community amenities.
